With a land mass of nearly 6 million acres, Denali National Park and Preserve is the size of Massachusetts.  "Denali" is Koyukon Athabaskan for "the high one," the name given by the indiginous people to what white settles named Mount McKinley.  At 20,030 feet above sea Denali is the highest peak in North America.

Located on the southern end of the Kenai Penisula, Homer offers breathtaking views across Kachemak Bay.  Homer is home to the Pratt Gallery, a lovely museum of culture and art, and many art galleries.  It is also home to "The Spit," a spit of land that juts 5 miles out into the bay.  The Spit attracts fishermen and tourists.  It also attracts Bald Eagles.

Seward is on the east side of the Kenai Peninsula on Resurrection Bay.  Seward is a charming little town with a population of about 2,700.  It is the historic starting point for the Iditarod Race.  It is also the gate way to the beautiful Kenai Fjords National Park.

[Updated 9/26/09] ArtPrize officially began on Wednesday, September 23. The city is swarming with art and people enjoying art.  Here's a collection of photographs I have taken.  I will add to the collection from time to time between now and October 10, when ArtPrize ends.  So come back again.
