Today, I visited Hoffmaster State Park on the west coast of Michigan to see whether the ice had begun to build along the shore. Last week, at Sleeping Bear Dunes, there was no shore ice. At Hoffmaster, the waves have built two ridges of ice extending about 50 feet from the shore.
